Antique pine coffee table, traditional Chinese furniture from northern China, dated around 1930. Originating from northern China in the early 20th century, where local pine was crafted using mortise and tenon joinery without nails, featuring a solid top and H-shaped lower stretchers. In rural homes of northern China, coffee tables were used alongside the kang, serving as a support for tea cups, informal dining tables, or bases for objects. Their low height corresponded to the habit of living close to the ground. Constructed from solid pine using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, without nails. The top, made of joined longitudinal boards, rests on four square-section legs with H-shaped lower stretchers. The carpentry is clean, and the construction details remain visible. Details.
