A superb pair of gilt brass dolphin candlesticks, adorned with an elegant design of stylized dolphins. Each candlestick rests on a square base finely engraved with scrollwork and flowers in relief, supported by four small ball feet. The central dolphin-shaped shaft is typical of the Napoleon III style and recalls the marine influences popular in the late 19th century. The cylindrical bobeches are also richly decorated, with a matching square drip tray.
