Red glazed earthenware teapot, made by Andy & Claire Squire at the La Maison des Sangliers workshop in Noyers-sur-Serein (Yonne). The piece is distinguished by a compact and architectural shape, deliberately understated, designed for both use and presence. The well-set pyramidal body, short spout, and generous handle offer a perfect balance, while the ribbed lid adds rhythm and verticality to the whole. The decoration, hand-painted with oxides and slips, consists of deep blue circles contrasting with the warm tones of the red earthenware. The glaze, rich and nuanced, shows slight variations from firing, testifying to the artisanal work and production at the workshop. In good vintage condition, with slight irregularities in the glaze due to the artisanal manufacturing, in keeping with the spirit of the piece, a tiny chip at the base on the blue rim, and a chip at the top of the handle (see photos). Total width from spout to handle 21 cm, base diameter 16.5 cm, height without lid 11.5 cm, total height 17 cm. A workshop ceramic with a controlled presence, chosen for its stylistic impact.
