It doesn't just enhance a space, it defines it. If only one piece could embody the hedonistic elegance of the French Riviera in the late 1970s, who else would it be. At the crossroads of Var naval craftsmanship and the organic design of 1970s furniture, this coffee table can reasonably be considered a unique prototype (or at least produced in a very limited series), likely originally intended for the private furnishing of a villa or yacht on the Mediterranean coast (originating from Toulon). One can easily picture it aboard a boat in Saint-Tropez, a glass of rosé resting on ice, or in a sun-drenched Californian villa. The magic begins with the materials: the base consists of two curved volutes, sculpted from 9-ply plywood, revealing a lovingly selected quarter-sawn flame walnut veneer, whose semi-gloss polyurethane varnish diffuses amber reflections—neither too satiny nor too mirror-like. Nothing is static here: the curves breathe, soar, respond to one another, and curl around each other like a sculpted wave. At their apex rests a thick, extra-clear tempered glass top (11.5 mm), seemingly defying gravity, simply placed on four original metal dowels. With a minimal—almost calligraphic—gesture, this piece alone encapsulates the spirit of the Riviera: luxury, lightness, and nautical curves. - Very good original condition: period varnish with moiré reflections; small chips in the veneer (corner of the top) and discreet, occasional losses; Tray in very good condition, minor scratches from use. Origin & Period: Workshop in Nice or Toulon, 1976-1982 (technical file available upon request supporting this attribution).
