Designed by Mathieu Matégot in 1953, this authentic bowl is a first edition from the period. It stands out, like many of the designer's creations, for its perforated metal design that adds a touch of lightness. Both lightweight and sturdy, the rigitulle material is a fine sheet of perforated metal resembling metallic lace. The use of this material allowed Matégot to transform an ordinary fruit bowl into an artistic and decorative object. It will bring a sculptural touch to your interior. This bowl is in its original patina. The red lacquered metal has developed a unique hue over time. The missing paint and signs of use give it an incredible patina that attests to its age. It is in good condition, without deformities or signs of impact. Mathieu Matégot (1910 – 2001) is an essential designer of the 1950s. A Matégot foundation was established in 1990 in Bethesda, USA. Free from any school, his legacy is that of a versatile artist, with fertile inspiration and remarkable mastery of artisanal skills. His formal vocabulary, where metal becomes "transparent, " airy, and colourful, still serves as his signature today, being immediately recognisable.
