We are delighted to offer for sale this rare fully restored Bonheur Du Jour dating from around 1870, made of hardwood and marquetry, with a marble top surmounted by a brass gallery, a leather top, and faux books. This is an exceptionally fine piece of restored French antique furniture. The piece is made of hardwood with sublime marquetry inlay, the leather top is original, as is the brass gallery and the marble display shelf. The leather books are, of course, faux, and they have hidden closures inside that release the doors. The piece has been fully restored with a complete cleaning, resolution of all wood issues, and a full French finish; the leather has also been polished. In terms of condition, there is a crack in the marble top, losses on the leather books, and the interiors are intact with rare period paper. Dimensions: Height 94.5 cm from top to bottom, 59.5 cm to the desk alone, Width 55 cm, Depth 40 cm. This piece is available for collection from our warehouses in Wimbledon. Condition: please refer to the very detailed photos that are part of the description regarding the state. Please note that vintage and original period items such as leather will always have a natural patina in the form of cracks, creases, and wear. It is recommended to regularly apply wax to prevent any moisture loss, and the hand-dyed leather should not be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods as it may dry out and fade.
