Midcentury Cubist XXXL Cup in West African Monoxyl Wood

Spectacular! Important old cup on foot with handle, hollowed out, carved from one piece in a single stump of wood. Modernist cubist form with the entire surface as hammered as the only decoration, abstract, without narration. Traces of old use, a crack at the foot on one side and a finer one at the edge of the lip testify to the natural evolution of the wood of this solid object from the mid-20th century with a very very thick hollowed out bottom, massive and madly heavy.
