Ancient baroque frame in carved wood, Italy, 20th century

Baroque-style mirror, carved and gilded, dating from the early 20th century, made in Italy. The moulded frame features elaborate decoration on the outside, with leaf sculptures creating a swirling movement. Carved shells stand out at the centre of each of the four sides, adding further refinement to the whole. The well-preserved gilding highlights the three-dimensionality of the sculptures, typical of baroque decorative art.
