We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent handmade library desk from America, dating from the George III period, around 1760-1780, made of colonial camphor wood, with Thomas Chippendale style carvings. This is a classic piece of colonial town house furniture, very original with a simple yet detailed finish, particularly inside. The piece includes the original keys at the top and bottom, with removable columns that reveal secret storage compartments. The item has been cleaned, waxed, and polished, showing normal patina due to its age of approximately 260 years. The visible sterling silver candlesticks are not included. Dimensions: Height 215 cm, Width 100 cm, Depth 61.5 cm extending to 93.5 cm. An elegant and refined piece, a symbol of Georgian furniture.
