Rare Art Deco floor lamp, model 41E by Maison Jean PERZEL. Old edition, circa 1940, with a bevelled base, cornice stem, and a very large frosted glass bowl measuring 64 cm in diameter (in excellent condition). Signed on the base J Perzel. Recent productions of this model by the Perzel workshop are slightly taller (188 cm), with a smaller bowl (63 cm), and a base with straight edges. They are offered from €11,420... "This floor lamp from the 1930s was chosen to decorate the luxury apartment 'Trouville' on the ocean liner Normandie in 1935, as well as the gallery of lost steps at the League of Nations in Geneva... The city of Paris acquired it for the International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques in 1937... It is displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in the city of Paris..." excerpt from the J. Overall in good condition, with scratches and wear on the gilded patina, bowl in perfect condition, electrification OK (internal wire replaced), with original bakelite plug, without switch... Superb lighting!... Old E27 socket in brass and porcelain, fixed on an "internal cornice" at the top of the base (easy to remove to change the bulb), and adjustable in height by a sliding rail with a tightening screw...(original and functional system)... see photos. Base of the foot slightly elevated and weighted by a strong white lacquered steel ring. A superb and very elegant luminaire, authentically "in its juice"! Height = 175 cm; Diameter of the bowl = 64 cm; Diameter of the base = 45 cm.
