Beautiful antique plate in fine earthenware with a blue printed Chinese design, inspired by the Orientalist world that fascinated European manufacturers at the end of the 19th century. The particularly rich composition combines bamboo, decorated plant pots, birds, ornamental panels, and floral garlands in an elegant cobalt blue on an ivory background. The whole evokes the great French chinoiseries of the second half of the 19th century, with a fine and detailed design that retains its clarity. On the reverse is a mark with a sailing ship accompanied by the inscription "Chinese", probably the name of the decoration. The precise attribution of the manufacturer remains uncertain today, but the style is linked to quality French productions inspired by the Far East, such as Jules Vieillard (Bordeaux). In beautiful vintage condition, the glaze shows a uniform old crackle and a slight patina of time. The decoration has retained a beautiful intensity of blue (see photos). Diameter 24 cm. Its decoration inspired by the dreamt-of China of the 19th century creates a particularly contemporary graphic accent in a minimalist interior.
