Charming antique washstand from BAUMANN, consisting of a curved wooden cabinet, a white earthenware basin with blue floral decoration, and its matching jug. This set perfectly illustrates the utilitarian elegance of the late 19th / early 20th century, designed for bourgeois bedrooms before the advent of running water. The cabinet, with its curved lines and harmonious proportions, is topped with a circular openwork tray to hold the basin, and features a lower shelf for the jug or accessories. Basin & jug: White earthenware with blue floral decoration in the style of stylised bouquets. Marking under the basin: ANEMONE – Saint-Amand & Hamage. Typical decoration of French productions from the late 19th – early 20th century. Dimensions: Basin: diameter 36 cm – height 14 cm – depth 10 cm. Jug: height 26 cm – diameter of the body 23 cm. Cabinet: Stained solid wood (probably beech or walnut) Tripod structure, curved legs. Double circular tray. Original label under the tray: W. Baumann & Cie – French Manufacture. Total height: 81 cm.
