Large Abstract Acrylic Painting on Canvas – Marilyn Monnier

A striking work, stretched between sky and abyss. This large abstract canvas by Marilyn Monnier (120 × 80 cm) captivates at first glance with the power of its contrast. A deep, fleshy red occupies the upper part, worked with a spatula and layered glazes that reveal a living, almost sculptural texture. Below, an anthracite grey and velvety black evoke a calm and mysterious nocturnal body of water. Between the two, a centrally constructed horizon line masterfully blends black, white, and red in gestural strokes, hinting at a stylised urban or industrial silhouette — like a city reflection in the black water of a moonless night. The acrylic technique gives the whole piece subtle reliefs and material effects that change with the light. The work is signed by the artist, both on the front and the back of the canvas. In generally good condition, with surface irregularities inherent to the painting technique, which fully contribute to the character of the piece. Perfect for dressing a large wall and bringing a strong, contemporary presence to a living room, office, or open living space. A piece of character, ready to find its place in your home.
