A pair of antique Kharraz plates from Nabeul from the 1920s-1940s.

Mediterranean elegance is on display with this rare duo of handcrafted faience plates from the prestigious El Kharraz workshop in Nabeul (Tunisia), one of the largest families of ceramists in Cap Bon in the 20th century. White and minimalist, they are hand-decorated with a central cobalt blue rosette, a geometric pattern inspired by Andalusian heritage, both understated and refined. On the reverse, the handwritten signature Kharraz Nabeul attests to their authenticity and historical origin. From the early 20th century, especially under the French Protectorate (1881–1956), many workshops in Nabeul (including Kharraz, Chemla, Tissier, Verclos…) also signed their pieces in Latin letters to appeal to European customers. Diameter 23 cm. Overall good condition, with some small irregularities in the glazing and signs of wear (tiny chips) on the edges, reflecting the artisanal work and their history (see photos). Collectible pieces, rare on the market, witnesses to the golden age of artistic pottery in Nabeul, combining traditional craftsmanship and timeless modernity.
