Very good condition. *Gabriella Crespi (1922-2017) was an iconic Italian designer and interior architect of the 1970s. A key figure in the jet set and international high society, she left her mark on the history of decorative arts with her spectacular creations at the crossroads of modern minimalism, Italian baroque, and Hollywood glamour. Born in Milan, Gabriella Crespi grew up in a cultured and artistic environment. She studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan, where she became passionate about functionalism and the geometric theories of Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright. From the 1950s, she began to imagine her own decorative objects. Her talent quickly attracted the attention of the haute couture house Christian Dior, for which she designed table accessories, luxury gifts, and refined decorative items for nearly twenty years. Gabriella Crespi's style fully blossomed in the 1970s, a decade during which she opened showrooms in Milan and Rome. She invented luxurious furniture characterised by the use of warm, high-quality materials, such as polished or satin brass, bronze, mirror-polished steel, and precious wood veneers. The play of reflections and contrasts of textures became her true trademark. Her most famous collections, such as Plurimi or Kaleidoscope, consist of modular and transformable furniture featuring secret mechanisms, coffee tables with hidden drawers, or extendable consoles.
