Antique oval terrine in French glazed earthenware, stamped La Bourguignonne. A piece that captivates primarily through its material: deep glaze with shades of tobacco brown, caramel, and amber honey, natural ancient crackling, irregular shiny reflections, and cooking marks that make each side slightly different. The domed lid, pierced with a vent, captures light very softly, while the warm yellow interior provides a very lively contrast to the whole. This piece embodies the essence of ancient French culinary earthenware: an imperfect, warm, and authentic beauty, far removed from contemporary smooth productions. The traces of time, small cooking irregularities, and smoky nuances of the glaze all contribute to its charm. Stamped: La Bourguignonne produced glazed culinary earthenware intended for traditional French cooking in the mid-20th century, with a utilitarian spirit that is now highly sought after for its authenticity. In good vintage condition with signs of use consistent with its age, small chips and old marks (see photos). Length 22 cm, width 14 cm, height without lid 8.5 cm, height with lid 11 cm. Honey and tobacco shades that beautifully reveal this glazed earthenware.
