Description
Rare gourd vase in brown and orange flamed sandstone by gilbert méténier (1876-?), production dated between 1917 and 1939. This vase is decorated with an amphibian (crested triton) in relief. This sandstone factory was founded in gannat by ceramicist louis méténier (1844-1922), joined by his son gilbert around 1910. A few years later, the latter transformed the production of the factory into artistic production: the sandstones of art méténier. The mussels and dies were reportedly destroyed in 1940 by gilbert méténier himself. This vase, in perfect condition, is signed under the base "g. Méténier".
