The picture depicts a bucolic and allegorical scene featuring three young women in a clearing. They appear to be chasing butterflies (one of them is holding a butterfly net) or picking flowers. The flowing dresses and drapery evoke the classical or neo-Greek style, which was very popular in Belle Époque art.
