Small milk jug from the 19th century, known as Jersey pottery. It is iridescent brown with a marbled pink band. The name originates from exchanges with the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey, from where Norman sailors brought back souvenirs and trinkets, including fine pottery known as "Jersey" ("Lustre pottery"). This pottery was made in the UK, in the cities of Leeds, Newcastle, or Swansea. On the Old Continent, it was called Jersey pottery simply because it passed through the island of Jersey before reaching Normandy. Dimensions: height 8.5 cm and diameter 5.5 cm. In perfect condition.
