After graduating from high school in 1930, he continued his artistic studies in copenhagen and at the scanian school of painting in malmö. In 1931–1935 he attended the college of art in stockholm and graduated as a drawing teacher. However, in 1931 he made his debut in the great autumn salon of the skåne art association in malmö, where he would return for many years.
