Rare bureau-scriban in tomb form topped with a display case, regional work from the South-West, 18th century. Curved façade in an arched shape opening with three rows of drawers, cabriole legs, drop-down front revealing an interior with small drawers and a compartment. The upper part opens with two glazed doors with small woodwork, beneath a beautiful cornice in the shape of a gendarme's hat. The display case interior is lined with fabric. Solid elm, interiors and backs in softwood. Hand-cut dovetail joints, panelled back, beautiful old patina. Bronze and brass fittings with rococo decoration. Condition: generally good for a piece of this age. Signs of use and ink stains on the drop-down front, witnesses to its history. Old signs of woodworm, inactive [to be confirmed]. Some repairs: hinges of the drop-down front, knobs of the small interior drawers. A characterful piece, as beautiful open as it is closed, ideal for a study, library, or hallway.
