Vintage Shell armchair, 1960s, German Democratic Republic, restored

The chair, commonly known as the shell chair, was manufactured in the now-defunct German Democratic Republic in the 1960s. This chair has undergone a complete renovation. It involved removing the old materials, sponges, belts, and insects. The metal frame was then cleaned, protected against corrosion, and repainted. The next step was to thread the new belts, add a sponge, and put on a sheep's wool cover. The highlight of the renovation was the upholstery in a beautiful velvet and houndstooth fabric. The legs were cleaned and repainted with a matte black varnish. The metal legs were polished. The chair is stunning. All stages of the renovation were carried out with consideration for the original production process.
