Authentic milking stool, or selou, made of solid wood, originating from the popular art of the Cévennes. Entirely handcrafted from a solid piece of wood carved with an axe, it rests on three tapered legs mounted securely. Its monoxyle seat, hollowed out to fit the shape of the body, reflects a vernacular craftsmanship where every tool mark contributes to its character. Previously used for milking sheep or goats, its tripod base ensured perfect stability on uneven ground. With its beautiful aged patina and sculptural silhouette, this stool is now as much a decorative object as it is a valuable testament to the popular art of the mountains in southern France. Dimensions: H 34 × W 38 × D 25 cm.
