Mahogany chest of drawers – Empire / Restoration period – Black marble and gilded bronzes Elegant mahogany chest of drawers, dating from the first half of the 19th century, in the Empire-Restoration style. Architecturally shaped, it features seven drawers at the front, offering significant storage capacity. The fronts display a beautiful wood grain arranged with care. The top drawer is fitted with two ring handles with lion's head motifs in gilded bronze. The straight sides are highlighted with chiselled and gilded bronzes featuring figurative decoration, as well as small decorative feet at the bottom. An interesting feature is that one of the drawers conceals a sliding and foldable writing tablet, covered in green leather with a gilded decoration. The piece rests on four feet, particularly notable at the front, sculpted as lion's paws, enhancing its Empire character. It is topped with a slightly overhanging black marble surface. Beautiful quality of cabinetmaking and elegant proportions for this chest of drawers, which is both decorative and functional.
