Uno & Osten Kristiansson (Sweden, 1925-2009), rare suspended ceiling light in oak and glass with four lights. Luxus. Good condition Electrical operation untested. The designer brothers Uno & Östen Kristiansson are known for their lighting and mirrors and were particularly active from 1950 to 1970 in Sweden. They were prolific designers with a clear aesthetic, easily identifiable as "The Scandinavian Modern." Although there is little biographical information about the duo, their work is highly valued by vintage enthusiasts and is now in great demand in the vintage market. Uno Kristiansson was born in 1925 and Östen two years later, in 1927. Little is known about their education, but it is assumed they spent their early years in southern Sweden. They likely learned the trade from their father, who ran his own furniture business (Vittsjö Furniture, established in 1919 and named after the Swedish village where it was located). In 1950, Uno Kristiansson founded his own factory, Luxus, also located in Vittsjö. There, he produced indoor and outdoor lamps, furniture, and mirrors, designed by the two brothers. Their collections were launched in Sweden and across Europe in 1950. In 1968, Luxus presented a collection of lamps with brightly coloured shades that perfectly captured the spirit of the 1960s.
