A piece of popular Lorraine art steeped in history. Rare and authentic bedside holy water font in glazed earthenware, designed by the famous glassmaker and ceramist Émile Gallé in Nancy. This model is an emblematic and highly symbolic piece of Lorraine earthenware production from the late 19th century. The object consists of a double-barred Cross of Lorraine in white earthenware, delicately mounted on its original cut wooden support. A highly symbolic decoration. The Thistles: Decorated with stylised Lorraine thistles hand-painted in shades of blue and grey, a famous symbol of the region's resistance ("He who touches it, pricks himself"). The details: Presence of the monogram "AM" (Ave Maria) on the receptacle and small crosses of Lorraine at the ends of the branches. Signature: Signed by the "Nancy" manufacture with the initials "EG" in black ink under the glaze (visible on the left bar). A very beautiful collector's piece for lovers of sacred art, Eastern earthenware, or the world of Émile Gallé. 🔍 Condition (Sold as is) This piece endures the test of time with authenticity. Please note the following points: Earthenware: Presence of two old structural cracks on the upper part of the cross (clearly visible in the photos). The earthenware remains securely attached to its support. Support: The cut wooden support is original and has a charming old patina. 📏 Dimensions. Total height: 28.5 cm. Maximum width: 14 cm. Depth: 7 cm.
