Saint-Amand Camelia – 6 hand-painted cups and saucers – 1950s/1960s

Six cups and six saucers in Saint-Amand earthenware, Camelia model, recognisable by its slightly speckled ivory background and its floral decoration painted in shades of pink, red, and brown. Each cup features a large stylised flower on the body, accompanied by leaves painted in brown and ochre tones. The same floral vocabulary extends onto the saucers, creating a particularly harmonious set. The decoration has the warm character of French earthenware productions from the mid-20th century: slightly irregular painting, soft colours, and a very decorative presence. The underside of one cup bears the marking CAMELIA, Saint-Amand, as well as the mentions "hand-painted" and "guaranteed unalterable." The Saint-Amand factory is one of the great earthenware traditions of Northern France. Saint-Amand/Céranord productions from the 20th century are regularly offered in the vintage tableware market.
