Set of 8 cantilever armchairs, model MG5, Made in Italy

A very beautiful and rare set of eight cantilever chairs designed by Mart Stam and Marcel Breuer for Matteo Grassi in the 1970s under the reference MG5. This particular set, produced in the late 1990s and made in Italy (as evidenced by the maker's marks under the seats), is offered here. This iconic chair, with its clean lines, features a chromed tubular metal frame. The backrest, seat, and armrests are upholstered in lightly grained faux leather, here in a rare and very chic oxblood brown, which harmonizes easily with any other decorating style. Two metal hoops are located under the chairs, one with a screw thread allowing for quick and easy adjustment of the leather tension and therefore the seat firmness. Finally, the absence of vertical legs at the rear creates the impression that the chair is suspended (cantilevered). This design, in addition to giving this chair an airy feel, also offers the advantage of flexibility to adapt to the user's position. Backrest height 80 cm, seat height 47 cm, armrest height 62 cm, width 59 cm, depth 58 cm. In superb condition, there are just a few micro-scratches on 2 or 3 seat cushions and tiny tears around the eyelets (see last photos), which do not detract from its appearance. Ideal for a very elegant waiting room, these chairs would also be perfectly suited around a large dining table for the utmost comfort of your guests. Don't miss out!
