Saint-louis ambassador ruby red crystal cut overlay ashtray

This superb ashtray is made of cut crystal, certainly from the Saint-Louis crystal factory. In a modernist style, this large desk ashtray features 4 notches and can serve as a catch-all. Similar to the Ambassador model, it is a monumental ashtray in crystal lined with ruby red and adorned with deep cuts forming a rose window. This technique of coloured crystal in the mass is called "overlay". It is not signed and shows bubbles and colour defects in the overlay. This ashtray measures 20 X 6 cm in height. I note usage scratches, as well as colour defects and a significant chip on the edge of one notch.
