Scandinavian teak chest of drawers by Gillis Lundgren, 1960s

Teak structure with four drawers, light ash side panels, recessed handles and dovetail joints. Designed by Gillis Lundgren, 1960s. Four-drawer chest of drawers attributed to Gillis Lundgren and produced in the 1960s, characterized by an interesting contrast between the teak structure and the light ash side panels. The recessed rectangular handles and exposed dovetail joints reflect a Nordic approach that placed equal emphasis on construction quality and the formal identity of the piece. The clarity of the design and the precision of the craftsmanship embody the principles of Scandinavian design of the period, in which execution quality became an integral part of the furniture's aesthetic.
