Pair of green onyx bookends. Circa 1970. Two ovoid elements with an almond profile, carved from the same block of celadon green limestone onyx, revealing on the front face a remarkable banded veining — horizontal layers of sage green, milky white, and rust ochre — and on the reverse a more granular surface, with a matte appearance and crystalline inclusions. The characteristic translucency of onyx gives the polished faces a particularly decorative luminous depth. Lapidary work, probably of Pakistani (Indus Valley) or Mexican (Puebla State) origin, very common in the second half of the 20th century. Height: 18 cm. Width: 12.5 cm. Depth: 6 cm. Overall good condition, well-preserved shiny polish on the main faces. Two small chips (visible in the last photos).
