Sublime pair of Joker model armchairs by designer Olivier Mourgue for the Airborne publishing house, 1959. The Joker series is a lounge set consisting of high armchairs with armrests and an ottoman (large Joker), low armchairs, armless chairs (small Joker), and a coffee table. The uniqueness of this series lies in its beautiful chrome-plated steel structure, very lightweight, simply bent to create the base, as well as the cushion seats and backs that rest on straps stretched over the steel frame. This all provides the seats of this series with unparalleled comfort. This is the low armchair with armrests, a seat that has become iconic and representative of Olivier Mourgue's production during the 20th century, particularly in the 60s and 70s. The armchairs are in very good overall vintage condition. The chrome-plated steel has been cleaned and polished, with a few small areas of chrome loss due to their age, particularly on one of the two bases. The black faux leather seat and back cushions are in very good original condition, and they are removable with zip closures. The straps supporting the cushions are in usable condition but still functional as they are for immediate use of the armchairs. Original stamp "Airborne Maga", under Airborne license in the 60s, is present under one of the two armchairs in the pair. Seat height: 44cm.
