Kilim rug made by the Gashgai tribes. Completely handmade. Dimensions 3.10 X 1.23 metres - Quality: wool/wool. Double-sided - Origin: Iran. Period: Mid 20th century - Condition: vintage, generally good condition, no wear. The Gashghai or Qashqai are nomadic tribes that mainly live in the Fars province, particularly in the city of Shiraz in the southwest of Iran. "Kilim" is a Turkish word referring to the flat weaving technique (or tapestry). This carpet-making technique is different from that of knotted pile (velvet-like appearance), resulting in a softer and lighter finish. Just as durable as knotted pile carpets, Kilims are full-fledged rugs, made to be placed on the floor, not just on walls. Contact me for more information - My site on Google Tapis Sardje.
