Magnificent cylinder desk from the Restoration period, veneered with ash burr. Purchased in the 1980s from a Parisian antique dealer. Lock frames in gilded bronze reflecting the neoclassical style of the Empire period. Red marble in perfect condition. The main tabletop, dressed in natural leather, extends to provide a larger work surface (60 cm deep). A small shelf can also be pulled out on the right side (length 47.5 cm - width 48.5 cm). Numerous storage drawers are present under the cylinder, and this desk features large drawers both at the top and bottom. The two drawers at the bottom right are a trompe l'oeil and conceal a single compartmentalised drawer with a sliding tray and removable small storage (see photo). Octagonal legs with bronze caps (one of the caps is slightly bent, but this does not affect the stability of the piece). The total height of the desk is 123.5 cm, with 34 cm for the upper part. Height under the central drawer for legs: 56 cm.
