Ib Kofod Larsen Teak and Leather Lounge Chair, Swedish 1950s

A high back lounge chair designed by Ib Kofod Larsen and produced by OPE in Sweden during the 1950s. The chair has a light, carefully shaped teak frame with gently tapered armrests. The shaping through the arms and backrest gives the chair a fluid quality, while the proportions keep the overall form light. The original cognac leather has developed a rich patina, with natural variation in tone and surface that gives the cushions depth and character. The warm leather contrasts particularly well with the teak frame. The chair has been fully restored in our London workshop. The teak frame was stripped, carefully sanded and refinished using traditional French polishing methods. The seat has been re-webbed with new Pirelli webbing, and the original leather cushions have been rebuilt internally with new foam and reinforced with a secondary leather backing.
