This bentwood bride’s box is made in germany during the 19th century. The lid is decorated with a colourful image of children feeding chicken and painted text. The sides are decorated with hand-painted roses. Nice example of the germany folk art. These bride boxes where filled with clothing as a wedding gift, the text is often a love text with good wishes. Text on the lid is old german: “die hühner schar von hahn gefüttert, in hofe rings umher spaziert” meaning: the flock of chickens led by the rooster, walk around in the courtyard and are beeing fed.
