The Grevie floor lamp by Lars Bessfelt perfectly demonstrates the strengths of Scandinavian design. No complicated construction, no decoration for decoration's sake, but a few carefully chosen lines that together form a striking whole. The base consists of a round wooden foot from which a curved plywood stand rises. That single movement in the wood defines the entire design. The chrome-plated rod seems to float loosely in front and supports the adjustable shade. The combination of wood and metal gives the lamp tension without becoming overwhelming. The details are also typical for Ateljé Lyktan. The original fabric shade rests on a wooden element containing two light points. With the wooden pull switches, these can be operated separately. A solution that is practical but at the same time remains part of the design. The shade is height adjustable, making it easy to adapt the lamp to the space. Next to an armchair, it provides focused reading light, while in a living room it can offer calm, even lighting. What appeals to us in this Grevie is the restraint of the design. Lars Bessfelt did not need grand gestures. A curved line in wood, a slender chrome rod, and a well-proportioned shade are more than enough. In our workshop, the woodwork has been maintained and the chrome parts polished. In addition, the lamp has been technically checked and carefully cleaned. Height adjustable from 127 cm to 155 cm. Shade diameter 38 cm. Base diameter 32.5 cm.
