Victorian captain's chair in walnut from Eton College

We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent and important original Victorian captain's chair in walnut from Eton College, with the initials EC carved into the backrest. An important discovery, never seen for sale before, perfect as a desk chair or occasional reading chair. Dating from around 1860, hand-carved from solid blocks of walnut, it shows traces of the original varnish that has worn away over the decades, revealing a superb wood patina. Dimensions: height 78 cm, seat height 41 cm, width 58 cm, depth 61 cm. All measurements are taken at the widest point. The item is available for collection from our warehouses in Pulborough. Condition: wear consistent with age and use, slight discolouration.
