Sloped desk in solid walnut, 18th century (Louis XV style)

Authentic provincial slant-front desk (secretary) from the 18th century, in Louis XV style, made of solid walnut (or cherry). This piece of regional carpentry has a unique charm with its original rough back assembled with square-headed forged nails. It opens with a slanted fall front, a large drawer in the waist, and a low moulded door in the shape of a gendarme's hat resting on cabriole legs. Exceptional feature: It is sold with its original forged iron key (12 cm solid shaft) and its period iron surface lock, both fully functional. Condition: Beautiful historical patina. The upper surface shows natural working cracks due to the age of the wood, which attests to its two centuries of existence and does not detract from its sturdiness. Dimensions: Width: 77 cm|Depth: 57 cm|Height: 100 cm.
