Arcopal lotus vintage cups X 7. Very nice condition. Dimension: 9x7x5 cm. Diameter: 8 cm. This collection was born in 1974, in full current flower power. We find this drawing of large flowers, hippie and peaceful symbol, on plates, bowls, cups, dishes, coffee makers etc... This colorful and peptic tableware brought a lot of cheerfulness to the table. The french brand comes from the verrerie cristallerie d'arques. Founded in 1825, the family business became arc international in 2000. Each manufacturing process is associated with a name: arcopal for opal glass, luminarc for transparencies, arcoroc for tempering. These brands are part of the same group. The process of making opal was discovered in 1958 and registered under the name arcopal. It is a very fine opaque white glass based on very resistant ore, heated to 500 ° c and then cooled suddenly. At the time it was a real industrial revolution, moreover the success quickly became international. Arcopal is known all over the world. The mascot of the company is an orange elephant named archibald, archi for friends! The first translucent opaline decorations included country drawings: sunflowers, daisies, poppies, roses. Even if it does not date from the 70s or 80s, we necessarily knew this flowery tableware at our grandparents. It was called "rose of france", "anemone", "avila" or "volubilis". Arcopal's dishes, casseroles and ramekins, made of tempered fire glass, could withstand heat and shock. As the slogan says: "solid in the oven, pretty at the table".
