Offered by Antik Center Berlin, specialists in European fine art, antique furniture and decorative objects. Wolfgang Felber (1919–2002), „Überreife Dame versucht einem eiligen Herrn ihr tiefes Leid zu offenbaren, im Wald", ink and watercolour on paper, signed lower right „W. Felber". This work bears the official estate stamp on the reverse. Felber was an Austrian-German artist born in Salzburg, later based in Berlin. His work is characterised by a nervous, animated line in pen or coloured pencil combined with delicate watercolour washes, creating a tense, dreamlike world between figuration and abstraction. His sheets occupy a distinctive space between narrative scene and inner psychological image space. This drawing shows a scene of theatrical intensity: a heavily rendered female figure in a turbulent forest setting confronts a rushing male counterpart. The handwritten title along the lower edge adds a narrative, almost literary dimension – characteristic of Felber's work. A remarkable feature of this piece is its double acrylic glass frame, which keeps the reverse fully visible. The reverse bears the artist's own handwritten notes, working dates and annotations documenting the creation across several sessions in June and July 1977, with a continuation note from July 1980 – a rare insight into Felber's creative process. If you would prefer to receive the work without the frame, please contact us before purchasing – we are happy to offer a discount of 50 € in that case. The work is sold including the double acrylic glass frame.
