Persian Shiraz Rug, Nomadic Tribes Khamseh, Length 172 cm ( 68 inches ) X Width 198 cm ( 78 inches ) - End XIX Century. Rare Shiraz carpet, hand-knotted by the KHAMSEH tribes, late nineteenth century or early twentieth century Totally random decor indeed no symmetry is present in the bottom of the carpet including in the inverted squares. A bestiary, horses, poultry, snakes are knotted in a profusion of plants, all in a geometric way. the dyes used for dyeing come mainly from plants and minerals. The inspiration for these motifs comes mostly from folklore and local superstitions, but also from the frescoes and columns of the ancient Persepolis close to this area. The set is enhanced by a wide border and two stripes. The wool used comes from a mixture of wool of sheep, goats, camels, and horsehair can also be found. The Khamseh tribe is from the Shiraz area of ​​Fars province in southwestern Iran. This rug is in very good condition, including over-the-top and fringes.
