This superb Christofle flatware set comprises 60 pieces in the Malmaison pattern. The set includes 12 dinner knives, 11 dinner forks, 12 soup spoons, 12 teaspoons, 12 dessert or cheese knives, and a ladle. Malmaison is the quintessential Empire pattern, named after the château that was the favorite retreat of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and Empress Josephine. Resolutely chic, its openwork leaf motifs and symmetrical decoration lend an elegant touch to your table. Made of silver-plated metal by the Christofle silversmiths, this pattern was created in 1909 and is adorned with Empire-style palmettes and waterleaf friezes. Malmaison flatware is still available (each piece sells for €115 new, knives for €140, and the ladle for €405 – totaling nearly €7,500). The silver plating on Christofle flatware is of very high quality and extremely durable! All pieces are marked "Christofle" and bear the silversmith's hallmarks "OC" and the "horseman" mark. In good condition, they show some minor scratches from use and traces of oxidation. Dimensions: table knives = 24.5 cm, soup spoons = 20.5 cm, table forks = 20.5 cm, teaspoons = 13.5 cm, dessert knives = 19.5 cm, ladle = 28 cm.
