Vintage studio stoneware jug – monogram BS – 1950s/70s – H. 15 cm. Elegant small studio stoneware jug, probably European, likely dating from the 1950s to 1970s. Beautiful modernist shape with a globular body, pinched neck forming a spout and a large ribbon handle. Very nice two-tone glaze work: upper part in sandy beige with a matte finish and lower part in fine granulated and speckled reddish-brown, with lovely nuances due to the firing. The piece bears an intertwined monogram “BS” under the base, traced on the bare clay. The ceramist has not been definitively identified; therefore, I prefer to offer this piece as European studio ceramics monogrammed BS, without any speculative attribution. Height: 15 cm. Very good overall condition, with the material and glaze irregularities typical of a handmade piece. See detailed photographs. A lovely piece for a collection of studio ceramics, modernist stoneware, or Mid-Century decoration.
