An antique German painting from the late 19th century. This oil-on-canvas work—retained on its original canvas—depicts a still life featuring seashells, ceramics, and finely ornate glassware, all executed to a high standard. The painting is signed "A. Laupheimer" in the lower right corner (see photo) and can be attributed to the German artist Anton Laupheimer (1848–1927); however, it lacks a formal certificate of authenticity. The piece, which is well-proportioned and of a substantial size, is housed in an attractive, carved, and gilded wooden frame. The composition is horizontal and showcases a masterful use of color—notably the exquisite pearlescent tone employed by the artist at the center of the work to render the interior of a seashell (see photo). In good condition. Internal dimensions: H 51 X W 63 cm.
