Kilim rug

Ancient Moroccan Berber rug, more specifically a rug from the Middle Atlas, of the Aït Yacoub / Zemmour / Beni M’Guild type, but woven flat (kilim/thick hanbel). Repetitive diamond patterns with tight geometric fillings → classic Berber vocabulary. Deep red background (madder) with cream, black, pink, and green motifs → very characteristic of the Middle Atlas. Flat weaving (no visible pile) → similar to hanbels or utilitarian rugs (for sleeping, covering, tent rugs). Simple, irregular borders with woven finishing bands → domestic production, not industrial. Elongated format → often used as a sleeping or bench rug. In good condition.
