Alpine bonnetière in fir – Piedmont, 18th century, folk art

A fir bonnetière from Piedmont, an example of 18th-century Alpine folk art furniture. The piece is constructed with uprights and crossbeams, with careful joinery and an antique patina that highlights the natural wood grain. The framed door, mounted on forged hinges, features a slightly recessed central panel. A wooden lock, likely added during a later restoration, allows the cabinet to be opened and closed. The front legs, known as "braced legs, " are cut with a scroll saw, a characteristic detail of Alpine and folk art production. The interior is fitted with two shelves for storage.
