Vintage A. Younger “Sequence” Teak Highboard|1960s|Designed by John Herbert. A truly stunning mid-century modern “Sequence” highboard by A. Younger Ltd, designed by renowned British designer John Herbert in the 1960s. An exceptional piece of British mid-century furniture, combining beautifully warm teak, sculptural detailing and an ingenious combination of display, storage and concealed functionality. The rich teak veneer is beautifully complemented by solid teak sculpted edges, creating a wonderfully refined and tactile finish. The design is full of thoughtful details and elegant proportions, making this much more than a conventional highboard — it is a genuine statement piece. The left-hand section features an open shelving area with an adjustable shelf, perfect for displaying books, ceramics, glassware or favourite decorative objects. Beneath this is a bank of four shallow drawers, offering practical storage for smaller items. On the right is a wonderfully versatile drop-front cabinet, traditionally ideal as a cocktail or drinks-serving area, but equally useful as a writing surface or compact home-working space. Below is a generous double-door cupboard, providing excellent concealed storage. The entire piece is beautifully raised on classic tapered mid-century wooden legs, giving the substantial highboard an elegant and surprisingly light appearance. Lovingly cared for, with minor signs of age that add to its authentic vintage appeal. Dimensions: W 144 cm × D 46 cm × H 130 cm.
