Rare Glit lava bowl. Iceland 1970s

A very beautiful and rare lava bowl. Estimated to date from the 1970s. It comes from Glit Reykjavik Pottery, which was founded in 1958 by the sculptor Ragnar Kjartansson and is world-renowned precisely for this. They mixed genuine Icelandic lava rock, pumice and ash directly into the glaze to mimic the rugged Icelandic volcanic landscape. This piece is a classic and sought-after example of mid-20th-century Scandinavian ceramics in the Brutalist style. 3.5 cm high, 13 cm in diameter and weighs approx. 470 grams.
