Very beautiful and rare lithographed engraving in color (aquatint), illustrating a view of the palace of sherref bey, in cairo in egypt. originally this one was drawn and lithographed on stone, by jc bourne, in partnership with owen b carter, architect in london and, published in a famous work of robert hay in 1840 under the name of cairo. Robert hay (1799-1863) was egyptologist, archaeologist and scottish traveler, he published a descriptive book with a portfolio of 30 views of cairo in 1840. Here and therefore represented a landscape with a scene of life. In the foreground, several groups of people with camels, resting on the square, and in the background, a palace with houses, a minaret and in the middle of some palm trees ... A white mat and a very pretty glass frame, in wood, gilded and blue, enhance the lithograph. Condition: the engraving is in perfect condition, the white mat, has a very small rubbing at the top left and the frame has a very small shock at the bottom right (see the many photos) For lovers of travel, ancient Egypt, oriental landscapes, this ready-to-hang painting will decorate your interior with great charm.
